The Great Exhibition Of The North – NPH Summit

Working alongside Beaconhouse Events, Hemingway Design Sunderland Software City, Thinking Digital, and Digital Catapult, we were to work on the Northern Powerhouse Business Summit as part of the Great Exhibition of The North celebrations.

28 million people engaged across a three day business summit – collaborating with UK Gov to inspire, educate and excite the business community.

Brief

Full web creation and social engagement campaign

Working alongside Beaconhouse Events, Hemingway Design Sunderland Software City, Thinking Digital, and Digital Catapult, we were to work on the Northern Powerhouse Business Summit as part of the Great Exhibition of The North celebrations.

Upon winning the pitch, we were contracted to provide digital marketing services for the three-day event which featured the Governor of The Bank Of England as well as several leading figures from business and politics from across the UK.

Our role stretched from planning the overarching mar-comms strategy with Sunderland Software City; developing the brand look and feel of the event; developing the conference website; leading social comms throughout the launch and execution of the event, and real-time comms throughout the three-day conference. 

Working with the comms team at the office of the Northern Powerhouse we developed the look and feel of the conference that was used widely from email design, social and web, as well as stage and set design and signage on the day of the Business Summit. 

Process

Working with the in-house team at NGI, we developed a microsite within the Great Exhibition of The North website.

From the basic planning stage it was a well thought out process with many stake holders from the private and public sector. We were able to work well with, but also influence a lot of decisions on media and comms approach.

We produced 100’s of pieces of content to help raise awareness of the event and drive ticket registrations upon the launch. The content also helped announce speakers and critical elements of the conference. 

Across the conference, we provided real-time comms for each of the 38 speakers, producing live content highlighting critical statements and announcements. 

We also collaborated with the office of the Bank Of England to produce content in tandem with Mark Carney making a crucial announcement around Brexit. The Financial Times illustrated the moment below. 


 

Result

The #NPHsummit hashtag trended in Newcastle for 3 full days with a much higher than usual 1000+ people took part in the conversation using the hashtag.
